£90’000’000’000
I noticed last night how much money we pay to the government after paying the council tax. £118 x 12 = £1416 then tax deducted from your salary… mine is around £1600 a year, add on top of that VAT for everything you buy.
So for the pleasure of having a job and owning/renting a property – you’re paying around £3000 a year. Population of the UK is close to 62’000’000 people. Let’s say 30’000’000 of those are tax paying adults. That’s £90’000’000’000 generated a year on just council tax and salary tax alone. And that’s basing it on 30 million people paying an AVERAGE amount of council tax and salary tax, not including those who pay have a higher tax band.
The government THEN makes further money on speed cameras, parking fines, court costs, money from businesses (business rates) and will also take a percentage of the money you pay when you pay your bills. THEN there’s VAT.
The government get a BASIC of 90 BILLION POUNDS.
Where is it?
